The politicians are not the only ones who are contesting for seats in the coming state polls. Local singer, Neng Baby Shima recently revealed via her Instagram post that she will be contesting for the state elections too.

Shima said that she will be running as an independent contestant but she did not disclose for which state or party she will be contesting for. Little was revealed on her IG announcement, including her manifesto which she said will be shared soon. However, the local singer admitted that she’s contesting for the state polls for 1 reason only – to help and serve the people by solving their problems.

In the short clip, Shima also sent a friendly reminder to Malaysians out there who will be voting in about 2 weeks time.

“Remember, you’re the change. Think about it, and vote for me,” Shima said before walking away at the end of the video.

Shima was also aware of the possible backlash that she might draw from the public for her decisions. Regardless, that does not deter her will to work for the community.

“Stick to your singing and dancing”

In the comment sections of her Instagram post, unfortunately, Shima received multiple criticisms from netizens who doubt she has what it takes to contest in the coming state elections.

Some even told her to stay in the entertainment industry and not get involved in the politics world.

“This is stupid. Whoever votes for her is equally stupid.”

“Malaysia is doomed if she wins the state.”

“I’m not against celebrities entering politics, but she’s too young and it might turn out to be ineffective. Learn more about the world.”

“I’ll vote for PN for sure, and send my regards to other parties.”

“It’s alright, Shima. Stick to your singing and dancing, stay out of politics.”

“Is this for real?”

Do you think it’s okay for non-political figure to get involved in politics, given the lack of experience and knowledge?
