With the start of a new year, companies often reward their employees with special bonuses and gifts.

This year, a Korean gaming company has taken employee appreciation to the next level by giving its 311 staff members a PS5 Pro and 5 million won (RM15,326) as a bonus each.

According to the South Korean publication Naver, Shift Up, the South Korean company behind the PlayStation 5 exclusive action game Stellar Blade, awarded the eye-catching bonuses to encourage its staff.

Ps5

This comes after Shift Up saw great success in 2023 with the release of its video game, Stellar Blade, exclusively on PS5. It was the studio’s first console game and was met with largely positive reviews, strong sales, and a couple of nominations at The Game Awards.

Apparently, it isn’t the first time Shift Up has shown appreciation for its developers. In 2021, Shift Up CEO Hyung-Tae Kim celebrated the PlayStation showcase of the then-Stellar Blade prototype “Project Eve” by purchasing PS5s for his 260-person staff.

In a time of rampant layoffs in the video game industry, it’s nice to see developers finally getting rewarded for their hard work. Kudos to the company for taking care of its staff!
