This teacher’s determination to help his disabled student make her dreams come true has inspired us all!

Last year, one blind secondary school student who dreamed of being able to run was able to do so after her teacher built a running aid to help her run and participate in their school’s marathon.

Cikgu Azam from PPKI (Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi) SK Klang Rasmi took to his TikTok profile to recall how happy the student was to utilise the aid during the marathon.

He wrote, “This is my innovation project. A special assist for my blind student for her running. We successfully completed 5km last year. I’m a proud teacher.”

Cikgu Azam shared with WORLD OF BUZZ that his student’s love for running prompted him to build the assist.

“For my student, running is her dream. I just want to help her achieve her dream,” he said.

While they initially tried various methods to help her run in the beginning, those methods didn’t work out quite well.

“The old running technique was by holding her shoulder when joining fun runs. But it was dangerous. So, by using this product, she is sure to be protected from running into people,” he added.

It’s truly amazing to see how our local teachers are so passionate about helping their students, especially the disabled students who may be feeling left out. It’s important for all students to know that their educators believe in them and their ability to succeed, regardless of their disabilities.

Kudos, Cikgu Azam!
