Back in August, teenagers aged 12-17 started receiving their Covid-19 vaccines following the revised recommendation from the Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham.
At the time of writing, a total of 80% of Malaysian adolescents have received at least one dose of the vaccines, while 43.4% of them are already fully vaccinated, as reported by Health Minister via his Twitter post.
Following this achievement, Khairy also revealed that this is among the fastest adolescent vaccination rollouts in the world.
On the other hand, a total of 94.3% of Malaysian adults have been fully vaccinated as of 21 October, and 97.4% of them have received at least one dose of the vaccines, as reported by The Special Committee Of Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).
With almost 95% of the adults in the country having been fully vaccinated, Khairy once again took to his Twitter and revealed that the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) had its last meeting this morning.
In the meantime, he also stated that the remaining vaccination rollouts will be under the Ministry Of Health (MOH), with himself chairing the CITF-B (Booster), and Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, the deputy Minister of Health chairing the CITF-A (Adolescent).
Last month, the Ministry of Health (MOH) had also stated that 3 million teenagers are expected to receive their respective Covid-19 vaccines prior to the commencement of school sessions next year.
As we are transitioning into the endemic phase, these figures are definitely showing huge progress in terms of the vaccination rollouts!
