In a tragic development from a story that had recently been published about a teacher who made customisable name tags to pay for his medical expenses and support his family, it is now reported by Harian Metro that he has just passed away.

Cikgu Izzudin, as he was fondly known by many, was a former teacher who had hailed from Alor Setar, Kedah. Initially a healthy man, his health deteriorated when he was struck by lymphoma, which is a type of cancer that typically affects the immune system.Ā

As a result of his medical condition, Cikgu Izzudin was dependent on the use of oxygen-support 24 hours a day, and was completely immobile. Despite the odds stacked against him in light of his stage-4 lymphoma cancer diagnosis, he refused to give up on providing for his family and himself.Ā

Working from his own bed in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, Cikgu Izzudin continued to take on the role of the sole breadwinner of his family and started a small business selling customisableĀ khat name tags. His friend Mira Jamal shared his story on Facebook on 29th October, and it has since gone viral over social media.

Unfortunately, Cikgu Izzudin passed away just last night (14th November 2019) at 8.05pm in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PPUM). His wife, Suzana, said that he had passed away after contracting a lung infection.

“He tried completing a few orders for name tags despite having difficulty breathing. His readings had already steadily deteriorated during the morning.”

Cikgu Izzudin leaves behind two sons: 5-year-old Sulaiman and 3-year-old Isa.

“I’m sorry. For those have paid to for their name tags, I will return you your money.”

As for those who have received your name tags, consider it the last memory he (Cikgu Izzudin) has left behind.”

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Cikgu Izzudin’s family during this difficult time, and hope that he will be able to rest in peace.
