As Malaysia continues to try and abide by the ‘new normal’, most of us are probably trying to avoid going out as much as we can (despite the relaxed CMCO). Which means that food deliverymen are still working to ensure that our meals are being served at our doorsteps daily, regardless of the circumstances.

Well for one GrabFood rider in Malaysia, the circumstances that he has to go through may prove to be more challenging than we can imagine, according to a story shared by netizen Edmund Gan over Facebook recently. Like most of us, Mr Gan had recently called for delivery, and was waiting upon his drinks to arrive.

When his rider arrived with his food, Mr Gan asked if he could leave his drinks hanging on his fence. After all, ensuring that the delivery process is as contact-free as possible is essential during this time. However, his Grabfood rider asked:

“Adik boleh tolong angkat?Abang ni tak dapat buat.”

(Could you help hold this? I can’t do it myself.)

Facebook

Surprised, Mr Gan opened his gate, only to find out why it was that he was asked to help carry the plastic bags of food. As it turns out, his GrabFood rider did not have any hands. In fact, likely sensing that Mr Gan was shocked, his rider even joked with him rather casually:

“Tak payah cari, memang sudah tak ada.”

(You don’t have to look for them, they really are not there anymore).”

Instagram

What’s all the more incredible is the fact that despite his handicap, the GrabFood rider can still ride his motorbike without any problems whatsoever! As it turns out, the handicapped rider, who goes by the name Syahrain, suffered from a horrific accident back in primary school, which resulted in the amputation of both his hands.

Despite that, he has continued to remain determined to earn a living on his own, and has been working as a GrabFood deliveryman to achieve financial independence. In fact, he continues to remain optimistic and enthusiastic about life, even with his handicap.

Which comes to show that regardless of how life may turn out, as long as we continue to remain optimistic and persevere through life’s difficulties, there is nothing we can’t achieve. To Mr Syahrain, we salute you for being a shining example of what Malaysians should aspire towards!
