United States President Donald Trump didn’t take long to implement key changes in the country after returning to the Oval Office, including ending all policies that promote LGBTQ+ and withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Besides that, the 47th United States President has also turned his sight to the Middle East, especially the Gaza ceasefire deal, with one of the deal’s transition officials revealing that the US Government is considering relocating some 2 million Palestinians to Indonesia.

NBC News reported that Trump’s Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is working to achieve long-term stability for the Israelis and 2 million displaced Palestinians via 3 phases of the ceasefire deal.

The first phase involves the release of Palestinian hostages held by Israel and hostages held by Hamas.

Meanwhile, the second phase involves the release of additional hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

The final phase, which is yet to be negotiated, is to end the war and begin rebuilding Gaza.

The report then revealed that a transition official with direct knowledge of the ceasefire process asserted that the US is considering relocation of some 2 million Palestinians out of Gaza while it is being rebuilt.

Among the locations under discussion for relocation is Indonesia, though whether Gazans would be willing to relocate is still unknown. This is because relocation is a deeply controversial issue among Palestinians and Arab nations as many believe that it would be the first step in Israel forcing them off their land.

The Indonesian Government said it wasn’t informed of the proposal

However, the US’ consideration of relocating 2 million Palestinians from Gaza to Indonesia comes as a shock to the Indonesian Government as it was never discussed with the country.

According to CNBC Indonesia, the spokesperson for the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, Rolliansyah Soemirat, has since responded to the proposal, saying,

“The Indonesian Government hasn’t received any information regarding this matter,”
