When will this end? This is the question that everyone is asking regarding the Covid-19 outbreak. Almost daily, we read news about new cases not only in Malaysia but also all over the world. Two countries that seemed “safe” from the outbreak were Indonesia and India. Unfortunately, Indonesia just reported its first case of Covid-19 just over two days ago. And now, it seems like India has also been infected!

Channel News Asia reported that fifteen Italian citizens have tested positive for the virus in New Delhi. All 21 tourists who visited the country have been tested and they have cited unidentified sources.

Even though Italian nationals form the majority of the cases, there are currently 28 confirmed cases which is a sharp increase from six on Monday (March 2nd). One of the earlier cases was of an Italian national who travelled to Rajasthan. The Indian driver who has been ferrying the 14 affected Italian nationals has also been quarantined. ICYMI, Italy is currently the worst European country that has been affected by the virus. Fortunately, however, there have been three recovery cases as well in the state of Kerala.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that extra precaution steps will be taken to avoid further spreading of the virus.

“We will now screen all international passengers. We will not limit our screenings to 12 countries as we did earlier.”

Just when we thought the virus outbreak was getting better, we were greeted with nothing but bad news this week. Who knows what the following weeks will hold but all we can do now is just be careful and never forget to practice proper hygiene!
