“I’ll give it to my parents” – 15yo M’sian Boy Wins RM500k Top Prize at Ulu Yam Fishing Competition!

A 15-year-old boy has taken the internet by storm after winning the top prize at a fishing competition in Kuala Selangor on 8 February.

Hailing from Shah Alam, Haikal was crowned champion after bagging RM500,000 in cash in a surprising victory at the Den Kolam Pancing Ulu Yam fishing competition, with the moment captured in a video posted on its official TikTok page.

In the video, the announcer can be seen congratulating the teenager on his win after he landed a fish using breadworms as bait, managing to catch the one closest to the competition’s target weight of 2.2kg.

The announcer later asked Haikal, who had attended the event with his family, what he planned to do with the prize money, and he revealed his heartfelt intention to give the entire amount to his parents.

The event also featured other cash prizes, with the second-place winner taking home RM40,000 and the third-place winner receiving RM20,000.

“Today’s game was really lively. Thanks to everyone who came out to support, you’re truly all amazing. Congratulations to our young champion. See you again at the next game,” Den Kolam Pancing wrote in the comments section.
