A Malaysian traveler recently took to social media to express her deep disappointment over a frustrating stay at a homestay in Johor.
In a series of posts on Threads, user @wawaferish shared her unpleasant ordeal after checking into her accommodation, detailing multiple issues that disrupted her trip.

“Hi guys, just want to give a warning to anyone to booking at this location. Please be extra careful before making your booking.” she wrote on her post.
Unclean rooms and a faulty air conditioner
According to the guest, despite arriving at 5 PM, two hours after the designated 3 PM check-in time, the unit was still uncleaned from the previous guest. Upon messaging the host, she was told that the unit had been missed out. She then had to wait 45 minutes for a cleaner to arrive, who reportedly claimed the team was understaffed.
When the guest requested a refund or a transfer to a different unit, she claimed the host declined, stating there was a strict no-refund policy and no alternative units available. To make matters worse, even after the wait, she found stray hairs and unkept spaces, forcing her to clean the unit herself.

Things further deteriorated when the air conditioning unit proved to be non-functional. After contacting the host again, she was made to wait around 30 minutes just to be informed that a technician had been notified, leaving her without an immediate resolution.
“The whole point of booking accommodation is to have a comfortable place to stay, especially after travelling.
“I booked an accommodation to rest, not to become the cleaner, customer service agent and aircond technician myself,” she said.
She also noted that this marked her fourth time encountering issues with the same operator, having previously brushed off problems like poor Wi-Fi as one-off incidents.

Advice for fellow travelers
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the guest emphasised the importance of doing thorough research before finalising any accommodation bookings.
“My biggest advice is to read reviews carefully, especially the negative ones, and pay attention to recurring complaints,” she advised.
She noted that while guests can tolerate minor inconveniences, basic cleanliness, functional amenities, and responsive customer service should never be compromised.

She hopes that sharing her experience will encourage fellow travelers to look past attractive listings and pay attention to genuine warning signs before booking.
