A customer was left disgusted after spotting a rat running around a food-preparation area filled with raw ingredients, shortly after finishing a meal at a popular Malatang eatery in Kuala Lumpur.
The customer recently uploaded three videos to his Threads account, claiming the incident occurred on 7 July. The footage purportedly shows a rat scurrying across an area where raw food ingredients were laid out, raising concerns over hygiene standards at the premises.

The staff were allegedly occupied with their phones
The customer said the sight was deeply unsettling and claimed the staff did not notice the rodents.
“The staff were busy on their phones and didn’t even notice the rat running around. I honestly didn’t know how to react,” the customer wrote.
Netizens in the comment sections were shocked and uncomfortable by the sight, and many have urged the Ministry of Health to investigate the matter as soon as possible. Some commenters also claimed they had previously experienced food poisoning after dining at the restaurant, while another alleged that the teacups served there were stained with grease.

“I’ve been there before. Even the teacups were greasy, the food was watery, and the plates were slimy. It was really dirty,” one user commented.
The employees allegedly left used tables unattended
In a conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, the customer, known as Min, said that he was there for supper with his friend at 12 AM, and they were there until around 1:30 AM. Min explained that while chatting with his friend, many other patrons had left, but the employees allegedly left the tables unattended.
“They were on their mobile phones and did not clean the tables. My friend initially saw two rats, but only managed to record one at the food display area.”

Min added that the employee told him it was the restaurant’s first incident involving rats.
“I am actually down with a slight fever, but I think it was caused by the weather,” Min said.
WORLD OF BUZZ has contacted the restaurant for additional comments, but has yet to receive a response.Β
