As Malaysians ourselves, we cannot stop expressing what we love about our country. The food, the multicultural aspects, the tourist spots, and the list goes on. As Malaysians, it’s also the best when it comes to hearing the best thing about our country from the perspective of a foreigner.

Hong Kong YouTuber, MangoHK, who has been living in Malaysia with her family for about three years now recently shared that she is a huge fan of our country, and prefers Malaysia to her homeland, Hong Kong.

Did our food and tourist spots make it into their list of reasons for their love for Malaysia? Of course, and that’s not all!

If we’re travelling on our own by car, this means petrol consumption is unavoidable. To Mango & family, the oil prices in Malaysia are much more affordable than in Singapore and the United States of America. In a YouTube video which showcases their vacation in Langkawi, the family was amused by not only the scenic view of the beaches, but also the easy access to food while resting at the beach. They even got extra beers as the price was cheap!

“Beer, fruit punch, and fries. This is what I call enjoying life.”

The different ethnicities and cultures in Malaysia are also among the reasons that prompted them to “stick” to Malaysia and as Chinese themselves, Mango and her family are fascinated that the local Chinese are maintaining their culture, which explains why the family feels at home.

Her children are also able to learn more languages.

Back to Hong Kong… or no?

When asked if they will return to Hong Kong, the children doubted it, which has mostly to do with academic matters.

The parents also do not think they’ll return to the stressful and depressing working environment.

“Working day and night in the busy city makes me unwilling to return.”

We’re truly flattered that non-Malaysians are able to call our country home. Fellow Malaysians, do you agree with their take on our country?
