Sometimes we may be too careless to leave a shop without retrieving the balance after we made a payment, and when it’s too late to head back to the shop to get back the money, we would just forget about it and move on with our day.

For this particular lorry driver from Batang Kali, Selangor, he left a Shell gas station without retrieving his balance from the counter on 15 November. Therefore, the staff at the gas station kept the balance that is worth RM37.75 in a tightly sealed packet. Because of his awesome intention of wanting to return the balance to its rightful owner, the gas station staff had been keeping an eye on all of their customers since 15 November, hoping to see the lorry driver again.

The lorry driver returned to this gas station on 11 December, which was about a month after his previous visit, a male staff called out to him and told him that he had balance he forgot about.

“I didn’t believe him at first, I even thought it was a fraud. It was until the staff went to the counter and pulled out a small packet that contained the aforementioned balance.”

The customer expressed that he was surprised about the honest act because he thought the staff would’ve taken the balance after he left. Instead, the staff chose to exercise his integrity and returned the change to him. Not only that, but the staff had also shown him the receipt from 15 November to prove that he wasn’t lying, as reported on Sin Chew Daily.

After heading home, the driver had only realised that he should’ve given the balance to the staff as a token of appreciation because the act of kindness is certainly rare in this day and age. This incident had restored his faith in the gas station, so he promised to visit them regularly from now on.

Such a heartwarming story to remind us to always be honest to ourselves and everyone else. This amazing virtue is something that money cannot buy.
