There are reasons why cooks should wear chef jackets at work, or at least a proper attire – to protect themselves from burns, aside from hygiene matters. A cook in Hong Kong, however, has a different sense of fashion.

A viral post in the Facebook group 香港茶餐廳及美食關注組 shows an elderly cook at work in a severely torn white t-shirt which reveals a huge part of his bare back and other parts of his body. At this point, one might wonder if the cook is putting on a rag.

The cook is seen cutting pieces of chicken on the chopping board without wearing gloves and to be honest, the hygiene aspect in his workstation doesn’t seem to bother him – it’s pretty messy if you take a close look.

Gordon Ramsay would’ve yelled at the cook the moment the British chef stepped into the stall.

The Facebook user posted other images of the food served at the stall unsurprisingly, the cook’s fashion and outfit gained the most attention.

“I’m just curious, is this cook usually dressed like this?” the baffled Facebook user questioned.

Now, here’s the surprising part. Something that you probably don’t see coming, even if you’re keeping tabs on the latest fashion trends. Thanks to a netizen, the public is now aware of the POSSIBLE inspiration of the fashion.

It looks JUST LIKE 1 of Balenciaga’s shirts for the ladies which is “torn” in a similar fashion. Look no further than Balenciaga’s Oberteil, which is sold at HKD 7768.50 (approximately RM4745)!

Did the cook actually buy the shirt from the luxury brand, or did he create his own Oberteil?

The user was also unsure as to why the cook found it appropriate to wear such a shirt at work. Well, perhaps the cook wanted to be fashionable at work but it didn’t work out well.

We hope this will NOT “inspire” any cooks here to put on the “potholes-filled t-shirt” to work. Not unless you want the Ministry of Health paying your stall a visit.
