On 16th March, PM Muhyiddin announced the provision of a RM600 monthly scheme that workers who were forced to go into unpaid leave could apply for during the Movement Control Lockdown (MCO).

The scheme, which is part of the Employment Retention Program (ERP) under the PERKESO, also known as Social Security Organization (SOCSO), is said to last between one to six months, depending on the date in which each worker’s company issued their unpaid leave notice.

Are you eligible?

However, to be eligible for the scheme, you have to meet the following requirements:

  1. Employees were issued an unpaid leave notice by their employers starting 1st March 2020.
  2. Employees under private sector are registered and contributing to SOCSO’s Employment Insurance System (SIP)
  3. Employees who earn RM4,000 and below
  4. Employer makes the application on behalf of the employee
  5. Employer must transfer RM600 directly to the employee’s account

This requirements should also be observed following guidelines released by Kementerian Sumber Manusia (KSM) regarding FAQ for the Movement Control Order.

How To Apply:

If you’re eligible, here’s how you can apply! Firstly, the application needs to be made by your company/employer on behalf of the affected staff by completing the ERP Application Form C-19 and a mandatory leave notice document (CTG Notice), containing a list of employees that for the scheme.

Details required by employees include:

  1. Full name of employee
  2. Identification Card (IC) number
  3. Position of employee in company
  4. Previous month’s salary information
  5. Email and telephone number for contact purposes

You can start sending the completed applications today (20th March) to email: erpc19@perkeso.gov.my

Employers must transfer the payment to the employee’s account within 7 days from the date they receive payment from SOCSO. Those who submit false or misleading information or fail to provide assistance to employees will be subjected to the suspension of all subsequent applications and legal action can be taken against the employer.
