Earlier today (October 18), it was reported that the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, Palestine, which was sheltering thousands of displaced people, was bombed by Israel, killing at least 500 people.

But, what makes this so much more painful and heartbreaking is what had taken place at the hospital merely 20 hours before the bombing.

The @fromtherivertothesea2 TikTok page recently shared a video of a large group of children, who were taking shelter from the war at the hospital, cleaning up the playground there before joining hands in a big circle and playing a game together.

The page wrote, “War crimes happening in front of our eyes in 2023!”

In the video, the children can be seen first cleaning up whatever trash they managed to find around the playground before playing a game with each other, with a couple of adults supervising and playing along.

Just 20 hours later, an Israeli air attack hit the hospital, which was housing mainly women and children.

It is so heartbreaking to wonder whether the children who appeared in the video made it out alive.

We genuinely hope that this ongoing conflict will quickly come to a peaceful end.
