According to Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the Rt value of Selangor (1.95) is higher than Sabah and the whole nation, following Selangor’s spike of new Covid-19 cases from two to three cases to ten to 15 cases per day.
The Rt value is a measurement to indicate how fast the Covid-19 virus is spreading, and given the higher value means that the transmission rate in Selangor is the highest within the nation.
Dr Noor Hisham said in his Facebook that it took into account the magnitude of change and showed a greater risk of the Covid-19 pandemic if public health prevention measures are not taken.
The Rt values of the places reported according to Dr Noor Hisham are as follows:
Rt Malaysia: 1.25
Rt Sabah: 1.26
Rt Kedah: 0.65
Rt Selangor: 1.95
“The Rt value of Sabah is still stable although it is still at 1.26 on 29 September. The situation is still worrisome as it involves a high number of cases daily,” he said.
He also added that the Rt value may increase if we do not take optimal public health intervention measures. Meanwhile, there is a plunge in the Rt value in the Kedah state, and it describes an effective government SOPs compliance.
The public is urged to follow the government’s SOPs and intervention measures at all times.
As of today (30 September 2020), Malaysia recorded a total of 89 new Covid-19 cases, 28 recovered cases and two deaths, according to Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
