Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh recently celebrated her 45th birthday on Tuesday (9 January) and took to social media to share a surprise celebration the Malaysian Football League threw for her during a meeting.
Well, that was actually the second time she had a surprise birthday celebration for her on Tuesday, whereby earlier that day, staff members at the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) also threw her a surprise birthday party at her office.
Shared by one of Yeoh’s long-time staff members Lydia, who uses the handle @chanshisong on TikTok, a super adorable video of KBS members catching Yeoh off guard with a thoughtful birthday bash was posted to the platform.
At the start of the video, Yeoh can be seen entering her office while texting on her smartphone, oblivious to what her staff members had in store for her.
Just as she looked up from her smartphone, the KBS staff members sang her a happy birthday which caught her by surprise. So much so, that she went back outside the office and did a double-take on the situation.
She then told the KBS staff members that she had the shock of her life and apologised to them because she was busy messaging earlier.
Yeoh then excitedly checked out the gifts that she got, which included a bouquet of Super Ring snacks and a bucket of vegetables. Looking at the Super Ring bouquet, she jokingly asked, ‘How to lose weight?’ and laughed when she saw the basket full of veggies.
Just before the video ended, the Segambut Member of Parliament (MP) could be seen blowing out the candles on her birthday cake by fanning using her hands and the cake knife.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Lydia shared that she has been working with Yeoh for 5 years and it’s really hard to catch her off guard as she’s a very observant person.
However, she and other KBS staff were able to do so by hiding in her room at the Ministry and caught her by surprise when she entered the room while replying to a work-related text. Lydia added that Yeoh likes vegetables very much and the Super Ring snack too, so some of the staff bought them as her birthday gifts.
When asked about her experience working with the Segambut MP, Lydia said she finds Yeoh to be a very sincere and compassionate individual. As a boss, she said that the Youth and Sports Minister is very hardworking and an accountable leader.
In the video’s comments section, many found the video to be super wholesome and were amused at Yeoh’s surprise reaction. One commenter said that one can see how she’s a very popular boss among her staff members, while a few noted how she looked elegant wearing the Baju Kurung.
Besides that, a couple of commenters praised how she blew out the candles without actually blowing, noting that fanning the candles until they go out is more hygienic.
