The Movement Control Order (MCO) was recently extended to give medical experts more time to completely eradicate the Covid-19 virus from our shores.

But we all have a role to play. The medical experts’ job is to ensure that all positive cases recover as soon as possible and our job is to ensure the virus doesn’t further spread by staying at home. But, we’e clearly doing a terrible job.

Oneazam Mokhtar, who is a Grab driver, took to his Facebook page to showcase roads allegedly filled with cars with some cars carrying families and little children. He was apparently even stuck at a roadblock for almost 2 hours due to the sheer amount of cars on the road.

Saya pemandu Grab. Almost everyday bermula dari PKP penggal pertama, saya keluar buat Grab. Pada peringkat awal PKP dulu…

He wrote, “I am a Grab driver. Almost everyday since the first quarter of the MCO, I’ve been doing Grab. During the first term of the MCO, there were barely any cars on the road. Only FoodPanda and GrabFood riders could be seen on the road.

“But today, I am totally shocked. The amount of cars on the road is like normal days. It’s like the MCO is non-existent. Everybody is going around doing their own thing as if nothing is wrong. I realised this started from the day the government announced that the MCO was extending another 14 days.”

“These people who are going out are not even following the ‘one person per car’ rule. I saw so many husband and wife couples in the cars. There was one with a whole family.

“The lady next to me at the traffic light, had her baby in a baby seat in the front. OMG she could even play with her child, with absolutely no fear,” he added.

Cars 2

“Want to know how many cars were on the road? I was stuck at a roadblock in front of EKO Cheras Mall for 2 hours. I could watch a Ahmad Albab YouTube video until the end and still be stuck at that roadblock. That is how terrible the situation is.

“If this is how the people are taking to the MCO, then the MCO being extended all the way until Raya might become an understatement. I beg of you all, please stay at home. I want my normal life back!” he ended his posting.

And he spoke the truth, the more people who don’t take the MCO seriously, the longer it’ll extend.

So if you want things to go back to the way they were, everyone needs to stay at home and avoid crowds and people in general.

Why is it so hard for people to follow simple instructions?
