A five year-old German Shepherd named Chulio from the Royal Malaysia Police Detection Dog Unit (K9) was recently awarded for his success in locating the body of a senior citizen who was reported missing on 11 May.

According to a post on the Batu Gajah District Police Facebook page, Chulio received the ‘Jasamu Dikenang’ medal from Batu Gajah District Police Chief, ACP Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif at the Batu Gagah District Police Headquarters Monthly Assembly on the morning of 31 May.

Corporal Tony Matius also received a Letter of Appreciation from ACP Mohamad Roy for him and Chulio’s efforts in detecting Missing Persons in the district of Batu Gajah.

To further show their appreciation for the outstanding canine, Chulio also received a nutritious meal from the police to boost his morale.

Chulio’s career

According to Corporal Tony Matius, the 5-year-old dog obtained from the United Kingdom has been serving in the police force for last five years. That’s the entirety of his life!

Chulio has been a part of more than 50 operations and this is his second-biggest achievement after successfully tracking down a victim who was buried underground in Cameron Highlands last April.
