A Malaysian couple’s heartwarming act of kindness for a young orphan who passed his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams with flying colours recently went viral on social media.
Sahbani Shapudin (@siben_dua) and Nurhani Amirah Adenan went the extra mile to help the high-achieving student, Adik Nik, by preparing him for his graduation preparations and upcoming university journey.

According to Sahbani’s post, Adik Nik is a resident of Rumah Anak Yatim Sungai Pinang Klang, an orphanage established in 1948 by Hj Siraj and his wife that has long cared for orphans and underprivileged children.
Sahbani also has a personal connection to the home, having been raised there from 2002 to 2012.

Nik, who scored outstanding straight As in the 2025 SPM, is set to enter Universiti Malaya’s Science Foundation Programme (Life Sciences Foundation – Dentistry track) this July.
“The reason Hani and I are doing this is that we’re now in our early 30s, financially quite stable, and still unmarried. We often visit Rumah Anak Yatim Sungai Pinang Klang to spend time with the kids there and share whatever blessings we can.
“At first, when we started visiting the orphanage again, we thought we were just coming by to say hello. But we were pleasantly surprised because at the time, before SPM, there were a few kids here preparing for their exams, and every one of them showed huge potential for the future,” the post read.

Supporting Adik Nik’s dreams
After initially planning to just drop by and visit the children at the orphanage, Sahbani and Hani soon noticed the incredible potential many of the kids had, inspiring them to do more to support their future.
“We also warmly welcome anyone who would like to help by visiting and spending time with the children here. Today, the legacy continues through Hj Siraj’s children and grandchildren, with around 50 children currently living there,” Sahbani wrote.

After getting to know Adik Nik, the pair learned about his dream of becoming a doctor. Besides doing exceptionally well academically, Adik Nik was also described as a natural leader.
Touched by Adik Nik’s determination and hard work, Sahbani and Hani decided to buy him a full suit for university and gift him an Apple MacBook Air to help kickstart his next chapter.
“Despite facing many challenges, Adik Nik was appointed head prefect at school and also serves as the student leader for the younger children at the orphanage. His SPM results are truly something to be proud of. We really see great potential in him, and we’ll continue supporting him however we can,” Sahbani added.

Calling for scholarship help
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Sahbani shared his hope that more people who are in a position to help would step forward and lend a hand to those in need.
“If you know someone around you who needs help, and you’re able to help, then do what you can. You never know, even a small act of kindness could change the course of someone’s life,” he said.
He also shared that he and Hani would deeply appreciate it if anyone could help connect Nik with available scholarships.
“If anyone has information on scholarships that could help Adik Nik, we’d truly appreciate the support. For those who feel moved to contribute or visit the orphaned and asnaf students here, you can look up the home online by searching the name on Google Maps, or contact the principal, Hj Bani, if you’d like to make a contribution,” he added.
