A video of a foreign couple travelling in Malaysia has been circulating on social media recently, showing their experience travelling from Penang to Langkawi via bus and ferry.

While the video seemed rather standard at first, as it just showed the TikTok travel content creators essentially going from one hotel to another on a different island, something the couple revealed in the video caught the attention of Malaysians.

Get this, the foreign couple didn’t shower for 3 straight days when they were in Penang and were travelling to Langkawi by bus and ferry despite saying they were profusely sweating the whole time.

The video was reposted on X (formerly known as Twitter) by user @sicklepissy recently, which garnered the attention of netizens on the social media platform and left many shocked.

Moreover, many also called out the content creators for going about their day in public as usual while not showering for 3 days in the hot humid climate of our country.

In the video, the couple shared that they didn’t shower for 3 days because the water in their hotel was yellow, presumably because they didn’t want to risk any health complications showering with the water.

Despite not showering for the 3 days, the couple took a bus to the Penang ferry station to Langkawi and even stopped at a fast food joint to eat. Moreover, they even went straight to lie on the bed of their hotel in Langkawi when arriving there.

In the caption, @sicklepissy wrote,

“Not showering in Malaysia, in the north no less, for 3 days, going out in public and eating KFC, is absolutely f**king crazy and disgusting. And Malaysians say white people smell good and Bangladeshis smell bad, no f**king way… Now we need to do a ‘bersiap’ on western tourists.”

Meanwhile, in the replies, @sicklepissy added that not showering because of the yellow water is not an excuse as that’s just rust and they’ll be fine if they just don’t need to drink the water. Moreover, the X user added that if the couple didn’t trust the water as safe, they could’ve just bought a carton of 1-litre mineral water and showered with it.

Malaysians also chimed in with their two cents in the replies, with one commenter can’t accept how they could’ve just laid down on the bed after not showering for 3 days.

Besides that, one commenter said that the yellow water was fresher than the two of them and said that they should’ve used it to shower.

After sleuthing around, it was found that the video was originally posted on TikTok on 25 May 2023 by travel content creators Claire and Peter on the platform.

The video itself went viral on TikTok, garnering over 4.9 million views and more than 356,000 likes as of the time of writing, with many viewers, especially from Malaysia only watching the video recently.

Well, despite their bad experience with the water supply at their hotel in Penang, the couple looked to have enjoyed their time in Malaysia, making several videos while here.
