Doraemon was one of those shows that most kids grew up watching. From the crazy gadgets Doraemon would pull out of its pouch to all the crazy adventures Nobita would go on, the show was one hell of a ride right from the beginning.

And with movies coming out set years after the original series, fans of the show can’t help but feel nostalgic over their favourite childhood characters all grown up and matured.

But out of every Doraemon movie that has been released, it’s the release of Stand by Me Doraemon 2 that has caused Nobito to trend on Twitter and fans to freak out. Why? Well, it’s because our beloved childhood protagonist, Nobita, is finally getting married to Shizuka, his childhood crush!

Doraemon

As depicted in the poster, Nobita and Shizuka are getting married as they stand atop a large teary-eyed Doraemon looking up with nothing but pride. The movie follows Nobita in his last adventure as he travels back in time, panicked and worried that he isn’t the right person for Shizuka moments before their actual wedding.

However, plot aside, it’s the fact that Nobita and Shizuka are getting married that has caused fans to go crazy on social media. Following the announcement for an English version of the movie releasing some time in February of this year, fans of the show have taken to Twitter to show their excitement and pride for Nobita’s marriage!

Many also expressed how this turning point has made them feel much older, dwelling over the fact that an anime character from their childhood is actually getting married before they are!

The movie was released in Japan on 20 November 2020 and is a direct sequel to the 2014 movie, Stand by me Doraemon. An English version of the movie is yet to be released, with February of this year being its scheduled release date.

Well, what do you think? Will you be watching the movie alongside us when it’s finally released?
