Recently, famous YouTuber Sonny Side of the Best Ever Food Review Show returned to Malaysia and in the past few weeks, he has been uploading food content from his trip here.
His most recent episode of the trip features him going to 5 different places on Petaling Street, where he tried various food.
He started strong with more mellow breakfast foods such as Chee Cheong Fun and frog porridge. Later, he moved on to a lunch favourite, nasi campur, where he took a massive plate of rice and added ayam kicap, gulai nangka and sambal tempeh.
At first, he confused kicap and ketchup, but later on, he was informed of the difference in the sauces. When he tried the ayam kicap, he said it was “so delicious.”
“It’s so delicious, it’s super salty, super sweet amazing flavours.”
The YouTuber also says that eating nasi campur is an excellent way to experience Malaysian street food, as people can choose from a vast variety.
Other than that, he also went to the famous Lai Foong beef noodles, but his experience was a little subpar as he chose the wrong noodle type; the beef parts did make up for it.
Last but not least, Sonny Side went to the viral mee tarik place, which he gave a stellar review of, and he seems to have enjoyed the dumplings offered there.
“I’m in heaven, man. It doesn’t get better than this.”
After eating the noodles, he said: “The whole dish is just a punch to the face. This is the Mike Tyson of cuisine, coming at you with an uppercut.”

We loved seeing Sonny Side in our country, tasting our food and chiming in with funny quips. We hope there is more to this trip and he will visit more often!
