As Malaysia faces its third wave of COVID-19 cases, people are getting more and more worried about the number of cases increasing every day. But this worry has yet again triggered another set of fake news to spread on social media.

In lieu of recent news reports claiming a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in Klang Valley and KL, the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKM) has issued an official statement debunking these claims.

They wrote:

“Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) denies any claims that HKL is prepared to face the increasing covid 19 cases in Klang Valley and KL that is expected to reach 3,000 cases per day.”

KKM urges Malaysians to be careful when believing and spreading articles claiming this fake news, as it may cause panic and confusion among citizens.
