A lorry driver and two passengers were involved in a road accident after the five-tonne lorry carrying chicken supplies they were travelling in crashed into a trailer parked by the roadside along the East-West Highway earlier today (21 July).
The victims, who were trapped inside the vehicle in an incident in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, were later identified as 42-year-old Norazeman Abdul Aziz, 16-year-old Mohammad Zakwan Mohd Nor, and 29-year-old Mohd Haikal Hanifah.

Eyewitness tried to help victims trapped inside lorry following crash
An eyewitness, Mohamad Shamsul Usop, said he stopped at the accident scene in hopes of helping the victims.
He said the area was extremely dark, which may have caused the lorry driver to not notice the trailer ahead.
He added that the lorry driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, pleaded for help and asked to be pulled out.
“However, I was unable to help him as he was trapped inside. Without wasting any time, I immediately contacted the Fire and Rescue Department to help remove the victims,” Mohamad Shamsul was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

“I told the lorry driver to recite prayers”
Mohamad Shamsul said he asked the lorry driver to stay calm and recite prayers, as he was still able to speak despite suffering serious injuries.
“At the time, I was travelling from Penang to deliver goods to Kota Bharu. The lorry driver and the front passenger were still alive when I tried to help them, while the rear passenger was not moving,” he said.
However, all three victims sadly passed away due to their injuries.
“As a lorry driver who frequently travels along that road, I hope the authorities will install streetlights there to prevent similar accidents in the future,” he added.
