Two days ago, the world was shaken by a massacre in Christchurch when a 28-year-old terrorist, armed with a rifle, walked up to the Al Noor Mosque in Deans Ave and turned his gun on worshippers during Friday prayers. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has stated that this terrorist attack is one of “New Zealand’s darkest days”.

Three Malaysians were injured in the attack and are currently being treated at the Christchurch Hospital. A Malaysian doctor working there has taken to Facebook to explain the conditions of the three victims to help dispel rumours.

As written by Dr Mohammad Firdaus, he said that Rahimi Ahmad and Nazril Hisham Omar are in a stable condition while Mohd Tarmize Shuib is still undergoing surgery. He wrote,

“Rahimi is stable at the moment, however, he still needs to undergo surgery to remove fragments in his body. He is still currently in ICU.”

Mohammad Firdaus also shared that Prime Minister Jacinda Arden visited the victims. The doctor reminded everyone not to spread fake news about Tarmizi. He explained that Nazril Hisham is in the normal ward now. However, he cannot share the details of the injury as the victim is still asleep.

Doctor Mohammad Firdaus again reminded all Malaysians to stop spreading the video of the shooting and any fake news. Please do some research before you decide to share anything on your timeline.
