Homemade remedies are abundant on social media, with many claiming to cure a multitude of ailments from the common flu to cancer.

With the government and members of the public urging content creators across the country to not come up with recommendations on how to beat Covid-19 through homemade remedies, this video recently made its way to various WhatsApp groups across the country.

The man seen in this video claimed that his sister and her whole family, was cured of Covid-19 after inhaling their home remedy of boiled cloves.

Wah, so easy?

Perturbed by this person’s illogical reasoning and suggestion, Medical Myth Buster, Dr Mahyuddin stepped up to the plate and uncovered the truth about this homemade remedy.

In his tweet, he writes, “If you have a fever, sore throat or difficulty in breathing, make your way to the hospital ASAP.”

“If your intention is to help frontliners, breathing in clove fumes is not the answer. A delay in seeking treatment will only endanger you.”

“If the cure for Covid-19 is done by only sniffing cloves, there is then no need for vaccinations, quarantines and ICUs for infected patients.”

“If you truly want to help frontliners, do not spread this video out to the masses.”

That’s a clear enough message, right? Let’s do our part and help ease the burden of our frontliners by not spreading videos that stop people from seeking immediate medical attention.
