Most people on WhatsApp would’ve received a forwarded a message saying that two people got fined in Penampang for not physical distancing in a car. This story has many versions in multiple languages but how true is it?

The message said: “There were two people in the car but a fine was issued for no social distancing within the vehicle. Turns out that one person should be in the driver’s seat while another person should be in the back seat.”

According to Sebenarnya.my, the image of the compound that came along with the messages has no relevance with the case and the info in the messages were not accurate.

The Penampang police said that the compound that was issued out happened on 16 October at a roadblock at Jalan Penampang -Papar. The compound that was issued out is regarding three individuals who were in a car when only two people were permitted at that time.

Actions were taken against the three individuals under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020.
