Previously, a Malaysian woman went viral after voicing her frustration, claiming she was denied entry to a hospital by security because her attire didn’t comply with the dress code.

While she admitted that institutions have the right to set basic dress guidelines, she argued that her sleeveless dress was considered “modest and appropriate”, according to Getaran.

“The visitor was not actually barred from visiting”

Cyberjaya Hospital has finally spoken up, explaining that its visitor dress code is in place to ensure the hospital environment remains respectful, conducive, and comfortable for all patients, staff, and visitors.

In a statement, the hospital said the guidelines are standard practice across most public healthcare facilities.

“Cyberjaya Hospital takes note of the recent viral issue on social media involving a visitor who claimed they were denied entry for not following the dress code. In this case, the visitor was not actually barred from visiting, security personnel had only advised them to comply with the guidelines,” it said.

“The guidelines will not affect access to visiting rights”

The hospital clarified that the visitor was still allowed to see her family member, who was receiving treatment.

“We want to stress that patients seeking treatment will always be accepted under any circumstances, especially in emergencies. Patients are not bound by the dress code and will never be denied the right to treatment. We always prioritise patient welfare and understand the importance of family support,” the hospital said.

They added that the guidelines will be applied with flexibility and consideration, without affecting access to treatment or visiting rights.

“Cyberjaya Hospital remains committed to delivering healthcare services that are professional, compassionate, and in line with the Health Ministry’s mission to safeguard the people’s well-being.”
