2 corpses were found inside a drain behind an abandoned building in Alor Setar, Kedah yesterday evening (August 19).

The chief police of Kota Setar district, Assistant Commissioner Siti Nor Salawati Saad, confirmed that the deceased was a mother and daughter, aged 34 and 10, respectively.

Slashed wounds were found on their necks.

PDRM received a report from the public at around 5 PM and a team of investigators were deployed to the scene immediately.

“Both deceased were found next to each other inside the drain. No documentations were found with them.”

Salawati also said it’s possible that the deceased were foreigners. Their corpses had been sent to the hospital for post-mortem.

Just this morning (August 20), the suspect was brought to the Alor Setar court for a remand application to continue with the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. If found guilty, the suspect will face the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years with no less than 12 strokes of the rotan.

The motive of the murder is also under investigation, and Salawati urged the public not to come up with any speculations.
