36-year-old Liu raised her daughter single-handedly for 9 years and over the years she finally saved up enough money to travel over to Malaysia to search for her “husband”. Although they are not legally married, but she professes that she is indeed his “wife”.
She says, “Husband, where are you? Do you know that we have a daughter together?”
Liu spent three fruitless days searching for her “husband” but could not find him. Dejected, she decided to seek for the help of MCA’s Head of Public Services and Complaints Department Datuk Seri Michael Chong to locate her missing spouse.

According to Chinapress, Chong held a press conference on her behalf today and told the press that they had other information on the Malaysian man but they did not want to release it to the public.
He said that he did not want the man’s life or if his family’s life here to be affected, if he has one but instead asks the man to contact him if he sees the picture of Liu Hongjie and her daughter.
