Question time.

What do people get out of torturing and killing small, defenseless animals? Because it seems like the number of animal abuse cases in Malaysia is on the rise.

The Malaysia Animal Association took to their Facebook page to showcase CCTV footage of a woman behind the wheel of a grey car, apparently purposely driving over a cat in a parking lot in Bandar Tasik Selatan.

They wrote, “A cat that was resting died after it was purposely run over, the owner of the car has been asked to step forward. The cruel incident where the cat was hit to death while it was resting happened on 23 July 2020. The driver of the car has been identified as a Chinese woman. This happened in the parking lot of the Razak Mansion flat in Bandar Tasik Selatan at 12:50pm and was recorded by the Razak Mansion management’s CCTVs in the parking lot.”

In the video, the car can be seen stopped at the end of the lane in the parking lot while the cat was lying in the middle of the road. Instead of getting down from the car to shoo the cat out of the way, the driver then accelerated and hit the cat, stepping on her break as she went over the cat before driving off.

The cat can then be seen struggling before it died.

Giphy

If the driver had accidentally hit the cat after not noticing it in the middle of the road, why didn’t she stop to check on what she had hit?

Malaysia Animal Association is now looking for the culprit behind the wheel and is asking the general public for information on the whereabouts of the driver.

“Witnesses can contact Malaysia Animal Association for information to be passed on to the authorities. Any witnesses who knows anything about this violent and cruel act can contact Malaysia Animal Association at +601120901097,” they added.

We need to do everything we can to help to ensure that this doesn’t happen again to other defenseless, innocent animals.
