As reported by Malay Mail, the government will launch a monthly RM100 unlimited travel pass for all rail services starting in January 2019. Besides that, another monthly travel pass will be introduced for RapidKL bus services at the price of RM50.

The minister added that the government’s cost-saving measures is the reason why this policy can come through. Since the number of public transport users is expected to rise, rail operator Prasarana should improve its services to cope with the surge.

The government hopes that with the implementation of this initiative, Malaysians would switch to taking public transport instead of using personal vehicles to work, thus massively cutting down the traffic congestion in big cities. Also, the air quality can be improved as well!

Do you think this pass will encourage Malaysians to use public transport more? Let us know what you think in the comments section!Ā
