Wherever you are, please stay safe guys!

PJ peeps waking up and scrolling Twitter today must have feared for the worst as social media is abuzz with news of PJ Old Town being barricaded with barbed wires by Malaysian security forces. Woah, this looks serious!

I mean, just take a look at these photos below:

According to a report by Malaysiakini, ATM and PDRM frontliners can be seen rolling out barbed wire fencing nearby Jalan Othman in Petaling Jaya. Furthermore, some of the officers at the scene can be seen knocking on doors of local residents while the security barriers were being set up.

A police officer at the scene stated that the area will have road closures and layered roadblocks starting from early morning today.

Here are the areas affected:

  • The market near Jalan Othman.
  • Section 2, PJ Old Town.
  • Section 4, PJ Old Town.

It seems likely that these area will be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) though they haven’t been any official statements made just yet.

An announcement by the National Security Council is expected to be made later today regarding whether the area will be put under lockdown.

Scary weh! Although certain restrictions have been lifted with the enforcement of Conditional Movement Control Order, let us all stay safe and practise social distancing.
