It’s safe to say that once you’re in touch with the loan sharks, you’re bound to say goodbye to peaceful days and good night sleeps, UNLESS you’re disciplined in paying back the debts every month which are charged with (ridiculously) high interests.
A 19-year-old girl recently took the wrong steps by borrowing money from the wrong party and faced intimidation and threats from the loan sharks.
The girl, who is a salesman borrowed only RM400 from loan sharks online. Before she received the money, she called off the decision but it was too late.
The loan sharks deposited the money into her account and wanted her to return a whopping RM6,800 after charging 150 times the interest rates!
Desperate times call for desperate measures
The girl said she gave up her part-time salesgirl job and to support her living expenses at the time being, she reached out to the loan sharks online.
After finding out about the crazy interest rates, the girl wanted to cancel the loan but the ah longs were not happy about it, and proceeded to deposit her the RM400. The girl decided to return the money on the spot but the loan sharks did not agree to it.
“I was told to return RM1,000 before a date and when I couldn’t, they came to my house and intimidated my family.”
Delay after delay and interest after interest, the amount skyrocketed from RM1,000 to RM6,800. If the smaller amount was already an issue, how could she even pay the higher amount?
And we know loan sharks don’t care about your troubles. They’re the experts in intimidation and this time, the threats went above and beyond.
They started putting up posters as “bounty order” and offered an amount of RM10,000 for her limbs, and the threats did not end there.
“I was also told that after losing my limbs, they would sell me to the job scam syndicate in Cambodia.”
Fear struck and she had no choice but to hold a press conference with her family members, thanks to the help of the MCA Public Service and Complaints Bureau, reported China Press.
We hope the situation will improve for the family. Times are tough, and no one deserves to live under such fear.
