Beyond Fans Sang At Wong Ka Kui’s Grave, 31 Years After His Death

Taking to TikTok, this netizen shared a story of how fans of Beyond lead singer Wong Ka Kui, gathered and sang his songs at his grave, 31 years after his death.

Gathering at the Chinese Permanent Cemetery in Tseung Kwan O, fans clad in black and white gathered bearing items including candles, flowers, soft drinks, beer, wine, and cigarettes.

Here is a video of the gathering taking place.

Taking to the comments section, the gathering not only moved fans in Hong Kong, but also Beyond’s fans here in Malaysia.

Amazingly, his songs are well remembered by all Malaysians, especially those who grew up listening to Wong Ka Kui and Beyond.

Others also shared that singers overseas are often visited by their fans, especially on their birthday.

“In Indonesia, singers like Nike Ardilla, are often visited by their fans especially during their birthday and the date of their passing.”

Wong Ka Kui passed away on 24 June 1993, a week after falling off the stage of a game show at the Tokyo Fuji Television studio.

He was 31.
