Singapore and Malaysia basically have the same demographic makeup. These countries are where people of different races live together in harmony and during any open houses, you can be sure to see people of different ethnicities mingling around.

As Covid-19 is still rampant, the Hari Raya celebration has been affected and the usual big celebrations have been scaled down to only family. In a viral video posted by Singaporean celebrity chef, Chef Bob, it proves that even though this year’s celebrations are small scale, it’s the heart that counts.

Nenek cina gua.

Without Fail!!! On the dot!!! Every year since I moved in she will do this!!! What in the world??!!!

This is the same auntie that asked for MY permission to put altar infront of HER HOUSE every hungry ghost month. As you can see our front doors are directly facing one another. How unselfishly considerate of her to care for me and my family’s well being with regards to our faith.

Masya’Allah I am truly blessed to have such beautiful neighbours. She had taught me the full meaning of humility not by words but by her actions. This is ol’skool punya pukulan beb where no institution could teach. ?❤️

With regards to pending queries for The Landmark Raya Feast, give me time to attend to each and every one of your feedbacks and messages. Insya’Allah I will make sure all that needs answers are attended to.

The video has garnered 4,700 as of the time of writing and it is probably the cutest thing that we’ve seen in quite a while. The video starts off with Chef Bob’s neighbour handing him a Fred Perry bag containing a box of chocolates for Hari Raya. Bob was thanking her profusely and also apologising as he couldn’t allow her to go into his house for a drink.

“Thank you ah, Selamat Hari Raya. Sorry ah, I cannot let you come into the house for a little drink of water.”

The auntie was okay with it and she said: “It’s okay. We can’t even shake hands now…” As the auntie moves to go back to her home, Chef Bob proclaims his love for her,

“Auntie, wo ai ni! I love you auntie. Thank you!”

In the caption of the video, Chef Bob explains that ever since he moved into his apartment, this auntie has always been very respectful and she never fails to give him gifts every Hari Raya! Other than that, whenever she prays, she asks for permission from Bob to set up an altar in front of her house and to burn incense (their houses are directly opposite each other).

Grateful for having such a thoughtful neighbour, Bob says,

“How unselfishly considerate of her to care for me and my family’s well being with regards to our faith.

Masya’Allah I am truly blessed to have such beautiful neighbours. She had taught me the full meaning of humility not by words but by her actions.”

This is definitely a very touching story! We hope that this story will inspire people to treat their neighbours better as Bob says in an IG post,

“We need to be the “bigger” person and show kindness and compassion.”
