Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was presented with a special gift in Perak yesterday, a new hybrid orchid that was named after him! Announced during the launching of the National Landscape Day (HLN2023) at Taman D. R Seenivasagam in Ipoh, the orchid is called “Aranda PMX-Anwar” in honour of Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister.
As reported by BERNAMA, the yellow-orange colour of this hybrid orchid was said to symbolise Anwar’s exuberance, optimism and spirit. Moreover, the orchid has been registered with the International Registration Authority for Orchid Hybrids in the United Kingdom and is a hybrid of the Aranda Tecnokraft with Aranda Sayan.
Each flower stalk produces 8 to 12 flowers that could last for more than 5 weeks. Anwar received a bouquet of the orchids from Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming after the launching of HLN2023. The medium-sized flowers are between 3.0 and 4.5cm and were arranged in a spiral with a medium-sized flower stalk of between 28 and 30 cm long.
