Looks like most of the guys in Malaysia ain’t getting married anytime soon!

A survey by Sweet Ring recently revealed that a good percentage of Malaysian women reckoned that they will only get married if their partners are making more than RM5,000 a month. Is this true ladies?

According to China Press, the online dating site had earlier collected information from 500 Malaysian users and it was revealed that 70 per cent of the women wanted their other halves to earn at least RM5,000 per month before they’d say ‘yes’ to getting married.

If the minimum salary requirement is not met, half of the female respondents said they’d rather stay single and not get married.

The survey also showed that 30 per cent of the female respondents are willing to settle for guys earning at least RM3,000 a month. What about those earning below that? 🙁 

On the other hand, guys have a different expectation on this matter. In fact, 60 per cent of the men feel that a salary between RM3,000 and RM5,000 is good enough to start a family, and that they don’t really care about their wife’s salary. 

It was also reported that 60 per cent of the Malaysian Chinese wish to keep their wedding cost between RM10,000 and RM30,000, while 20 per cent hope to have a simple wedding ceremony that cost below RM10,000.

Only 10 per cent of the users are willing to pay between RM30,000 and RM60,000 for a lavish wedding ceremony.

As expected, this news garnered a lot of attention on Facebook with many netizens expressing their two cents.

“Based on the current rate of my salary increment, who wants to marry me when I’m 60?” a male netizen said.

“No wonder more and more guys are going for Vietnamese girls these days,” another Facebook user commented.

Of course, the data is in no way an accurate depiction of all the men and women in Malaysia since only 500 users’ data were collected. Also, financial stability is a very subjective issue and everyone has their own view on that. So don’t take it too hard guys, it’s just for fun!
