With Covid-19 now more widespread more than ever, shopkeepers and businesses worldwide have adapted to the “new normal” of precaution to ensure the health and safety of both employees and customers. Some of these procedures include taking the temperature of customers who enter the premise and making sure their hands are sanitised before they touch any products in the store. It’s not every day that you find people mistaking one for the other.

This was the case for an unfortunate 7-Eleven staff worker in Thailand who accidentally sprayed sanitiser on a customer’s face instead of taking her temperature.

In a Facebook video that is now widely circulated, a customer can be seen approached by the staff as she enters the convenience store. The staff is seen holding a forehead thermometer in one hand, and a hand sanitiser spray in the other.

The unsuspecting customer stops in front of the staff, expecting to have her temperature taken but instead receives a spray of hand sanitiser right to her face!

Immediately recoiling from the unexpected surprise, the lady can be seen covering her face with her eyes from the sting of the solution. Realising her unfortunate mistake, the staff member quickly led the lady to the back of the store to hopefully provide aid.

The video has since gone viral with 64,000 shares. A Facebook netizen joked, “It’s okay, the customer’s eyes are clean for sure.”

Certainly a sight for sore eyes. While this mistake is forgivable, you might want to pay a little extra attention when walking into an establishment to take your temperature next time to avoid being greeted by more than a friendly smile!
