A 60-year-old man was beaten to death with a metal baton by an 18-year-old teenager in Kampung Buloh Ipoh, Tanah Merah, Kelantan, yesterday (19 June) due to a grudge the latter had against the victim.

The incident took place at around 5.30pm, with the victim, Shamsuddin Mohamad, succumbing to his injuries at the location after being assaulted by the perpetrator.

According to Kosmo, the victim’s sister, 40-year-old Hasnah Ghazali, said that before the incident, the victim was conversing with his friend at a shed in front of a convenience store.

After the victim’s friend returned home, the perpetrator approached the victim before inviting him to go to the convenience store.

The suspect then suddenly attacked the victim with a metal baton that is believed to have been bought online. A man who was passing by the location witnessed the incident.

Hasnah told Kosmo at the forensic unit of the Tanah Merah Hospital today that the victim was hit with the metal baton on the face, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

The victim’s sister added that she was informed about the incident at around 5.45pm and rushed to the scene.

When she arrived, the victim had lost his life, with his head covered in blood.
