An 80-year-old man was spotted riding his motorcycle against traffic at Kilometre 24 of the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Highway (Linkedua) going northbound.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M’ Kumarasan, shared that the elderly man from Kota Tinggi, Johor, was successfully tracked down and was taken to the Iskandar Puteri District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) to assist in investigations.
“The investigation results found that the man rode his motorcycle for 700 meters without wearing a helmet and against the flow on the highway. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding,” he said.
He added that members of the public with information regarding this incident should contact the Iskandar Puteri BSPTD Enquiry Office at 07-5101322.
Videos of the elderly man have gone viral online
Various videos showcasing the elderly man riding against traffic have gone viral on social media.
Kosmo reported that one social media user, upon discovering the videos, explained that the elderly man’s son has filed a police report in regards to his father’s condition, alleging that he suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
