We’ve been warned about the dangers of unprotected sex since we were young. However, the lack of sex education in Malaysia has led to a lot of misconceptions about sex. Did you know that 36% of Malaysians actually believe that having intercourse while standing up could prevent pregnancy?!

Anyway, when we start feeling our hormones raging and have the urge for some adult activities, we’ve heard time and time again that we need to use protection and one of the most readily available form of contraceptives is a condom. However, there are always rebels who insist on not wearing any. Are you one of them?

If you decide not to wear one, here are 5 reasons that you can use to fully support your decision!

Warning: This article is full-on satire mode:

1. Get babies!

Congratulations, you can greatly increase your chances to become a parent! If you are not already one.

Yes, getting a baby is as exciting as getting a new toy. Except.. it’ll cry, poop, needs to be fed, have constant need for attention and gives you endless sleepless nights. And if you are a female, have fun with 9 months of carrying a mini human inside of you while your entire life is turned upside down. Exciting!

2. Live a stable old life

Since you now have a much higher chance of suffering from this thing called ‘pregnancy’, expect to get settled down into a staid, old life even if you are still young and in your prime age.

Of course, hanging out with your young and carefree friends sounds fun. Remember all those late night mamak sessions, hitting the nightclubs for a drink or going for early morning mountain hikes?

But, don’t worry about missing out on all these fun times because what else could be better than staying at home and facing a crying baby every day?

3. Contracting STIs or STDs

Gasp! Yes, it’s called a protection for a reason.

Condoms are the ONLY form of protection (besides abstinence) when used correctly that can protect sexual partners from transmitting STI’s to each other. Sexually transmitted infections/diseases can be really scary and life-changing, especially when it involves the ones that are incurable, for example HIV.

But don’t bother shielding yourself from STI’s because sharing is caring right? Now spread the love!

4. Don’t want to spend money

Shelling out money for condoms? Why not just save the money for something else instead? Like a cup of your favourite drink! Or maybe for a future baby?

Sounds good right? Except that not using a condom would likely keep you at the edge of many health risks and your future medical bills or fees to raise a child might exceed much much more than what you can afford.

But hey! At least for the time being, you can save at least RM10 right? Totaaaalllyyy worth it tho.

5. Become fully independent

Besides protecting you against STI’s, the main purpose of the condom is to shield you from unplanned pregnancies. Do you really want to be responsible for another life without even being prepared for it??

On the brighter note, at least you’ll learn to be independent and stand on your own two feet when your baby’s daddy decides to bail on you when he finds out that you’re pregnant, or when the child is born and the mother decides she’s not equipped for motherhood and just leaves. Nothing screams stepping up your game until it’s time to raise a child single-handedly. Exciting stuff!

Let’s be honest, there are a lot accidental pregnancies happening because people aren’t practicing safe sex. And seriously? This may sound like a mind-blowing new concept, but all you need to prevent this from happening is to wear a condom!

WHAAAATTTT??? Pretty mind-blowing, we know.

If all of the above isn’t what you plan on doing with your life now, then you’ll definitely want to think twice about the importance of a condom the next time you’re planning to have sexy time with your partner.

If the ‘feel’ of wearing a condom is something that matters to you, then try Durex Invisible –  whether it is Extra Sensitive or Extra Lubricated! Enjoy getting down to naughty business with your partner because this new product is their thinnest condom ever made – allowing partners to feel ‘closer’ than they’ve ever been before!

Plus, with the weight of all the consequences of having unprotected sex off your mind, you can fully concentrate on your partner. Wink, wink, nudge nudge.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
