The heart wants what it wants but is that the case when there is a huge age gap between 2 lovers?

A pair of newlyweds in Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia recently proved that as long as it’s mutual, what anyone thinks does not matter. Mariana, who is 41 recently tied the knot with Kevin, the son of her own BFF. Kevin is only 16, and according to the laws in Indonesia, the legal age for marriage is 19 years old, reported Kosmo.

The newlyweds, however, do not have an issue about their 25 years of age gap.

According to another report by China Press, Mariana has been friends with Lisa, Kevin’ mother for many years.

“The first time I met Kevin, he was only 12 and he called me aunty. He always came to my shop and got himself some snacks,” Mariana recalled.

In an event that no one expected Kevin and Mariana to bloom, there’s a story about how fate brought them together. The man Mariana was supposed to marry called off the wedding, and that left Mariana depressed and trapped her in a suicidal state.

Fortunately, Lisa was there for Mariana during her tough time. One fine day, Mariana asked her BFF about the idea of marrying Kevin. The 16-year-old was initially taken aback but after giving it a serious thought, they proceeded with the wedding which took place on July 30, reported Tribun News

No one foresaw the relationship and the wedding, including Mariana herself. In response to the criticisms, Mariana chose not to bat an eye.

“I know many are mocking us and I don’t mind. I know Kevin will turn out to be a matured man one day, and I know that true love will support us towards a bright future.”

Their wedding snippets was also shared on the Instagram page, ndorobei.official which you can watch here.

Despite the criticism and the age gap, we wish the newlyweds a happy life ahead. Dear readers, can you accept such a huge age gap between you and your partner?
