Cruelty doesn’t discriminate, and stories of people of all genders and ages committing heinous acts show that deep down inside, there exists people who are capable of committing even the most unthinkable deeds without so much as flinching.

This is especially true of this incident reported by Astro Awani, where a 20-month-old baby was abused to death by a group of 4 teenage girls in Semporna, Sabah recently.

The four girls, all of which who were between the ages of 16 and 19, were taking care of the infant child. The 23-year-old single mother, who was their housemate, had asked them to help look after the child while she was away. However, tragedy struck on Friday (20th September 2019) when the mother of the child noticed that her son had turned weaker and appeared pale.

Witnesses of the incident say that the group of teenagers were seen handling the child roughly, as reported by The Star.

The injuries on the baby were allegedly caused after the teenagers had hit, slapped, kicked and thrown the baby down onto a mattress, before one of the girls were said to have even stepped on his back. As they were pulling the baby from the mattress, it is said that the baby’s face hit against the bed frame.

Upon arrival at Hospital Semporna, the infant was found to have sustained bruises all over his body and was in critical condition. Unfortunately, he never recovered from his injuries and passed away later during the evening.

None of them, who are of foreign nationals, were on drugs when the incident occurred. Police will be conducting further investigations to determine the main cause of death which led to the boy’s demise.

Police have said that they believe the teenage girls committed the act as the baby would not stop crying, and they are said to have regretted their actions deeply. All four girls were reported to have been crying non-stop since they were arrested.

The group of teenagers will likely be charged for causing the death of the infant child once investigations are completed.

We hope that the infant child will be able to rest in peace, and that due justice will be served.
