38yo Inspiring Malaysian Mother Graduates With a PhD While Taking Care of 8 Kids

Mothers can all agree that motherhood is extremely difficult and just like many other mothers out there, this Malaysian woman managed to multitask by completing her PhD studies and at the same time taking care of her children.

According to China Press, this 38-year-old mother, Zatilfarihiah has enrolled for her PhD studies back in 2017. When she first started her PhD journey, she was already a mother to 5 children and throughout the 3 and a half years, she was pregnant and gave birth to 3 children.

She mentioned that during her academic years, she would wake up at 2am in the morning to study and prepare for her studies before heading to the university at 8am for her research.

“I was pregnant while studying and reflecting back, I had no idea how I did it. I had to make sure my kids are well taken care of and that my thesis is up to progress”, she said.

“Thankfully, my husband and mother-in-law were very supportive of my decisions and helped me out a lot when things get busy”, she added.

She mentioned that unlike other people, her academic challenges were slightly different as she had to juggle between her kids and her studies.

“The hardest part for me throughout my academic years would be when I was my pregnant with my youngest child and had to present my thesis and symposium. Thankfully, everything went well and I managed to pass the tests”, she said.
