25 New Positive Covid-19 Cases Detected In Parliament On Monday

A whopping 25 new Covid-19 cases were discovered in Parliament on Monday (29 November), adding up the total number of cases from 22 October to 29 November to 84 positive Covid-19 cases.

Based on a report by Astro Awani, Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah shared that the cases were detected after screenings were conducted on 29 November.

“These identified cases have infectious rates with CT values or PCR RT threshold values ranging from 13.70 to 36.11.

So far, all samples are most likely to be Delta variants that were detected through screenings using the PCR Genotyping Assay test. To confirm this variant, the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) has conducted a genomic sequence (genomic study) and is still awaiting the full results,” he said.

Control and preventive measures have since been carried out and all cases have been isolated accordingly.

Dr Hisham assures that health teams from the Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Health Department are conducting investigations, close contact detection and risk assessments to identify the cause of the infection.

“This is to ensure that further action can be taken immediately in addition to disinfection activities in the areas around Parliament.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) will provide updates on the Covid-19 situation in Parliament from time to time. The health status of all Covid-19 positive cases, close contacts as well as any new cases that may be reported during the incubation period, will be monitored,” he added.

Respective individuals with Covid-19 symptoms have since been asked not to attend Parliament, to undergo Covid-19 screening tests and to seek treatment immediately.
