A doctor in Jakarta got a huge surprise when she took an x-ray of one of her patients recently. As reported by Indonesian news portal Detik, a doctor named Tasqia Syabira found hundreds, if not thousands of ‘susuk’ inside the body of her 55-year-old patient!

Just take a look at the x-ray photos below:

Euww, that looks extremely uncomfortable and painful!

If you’ve never heard of susuk before, it’s a superstitious practice whereby a charm needle made out of either metal or gold is embroiled with black magic and inserted into one’s body.

It is believed that this charm needle would keep its bearer looking youthful. However, Tasqia didn’t disclose any photos of her patient for us to gauge whether this superstitious practice actually works. 😛

One variant of the ‘susuk’ charm needles

The Indonesia doctor commented that as horrible as the charm needles look through x-rays, it normally doesn’t intrude or cause complications during surgeries.

However, this mystical practice may cause infection due to its location inside the body and the materials in which it is made from.
