As women, one of the annoying things most of us face is receiving unwanted compliments from strangers or acquaintances.

However, recently, Feminista Jones, an author, activist, and full-time social worker shared a post on her Twitter account that instantly blew up!

Jones had casually and jokingly tweeted a challenge which is to ‘piss a man off today’. And how do you do that?

Telling him you agree with his compliment of you!

Yup, it’s that easy!

And before men start taking out their pitch forks, do note this only applies to certain men. We know there’s no need generalising!

She explains from experience that instead of brushing off compliments that were given, a more effective approach would simply be accepting it.

Her simple tweet instantly inspired ladies to make that their go-to response the next time someone gives an unwarranted compliment.

In fact, some already tested that response out and surprisingly, it worked like a charm!

Many others who stumbled across her tweet expressed their amusement and questioned if men would actually get upset over such a response. Of course, we know not ALL men lah!

However, for the ones that DO get angry over a girl for agreeing to the compliment… We also wonder, “why?”

Her tweet was picked up by BuzzFeed News and she shares to them,

“It’s not a new idea, but in my own experience when [a man] complimented me and I say, ‘I agree,’ they get upset.

“It’s the idea that they bestow the compliment on you, and you’re not supposed to be aware of it.”

“Why are people so bothered by someone having self-confidence and self-love?” Jones asked rhetorically.

That is true people! There’s nothing wrong with owning up to what you’re good at! As for unwarranted compliments, next time you know what to do! 😉
